How do Burt's Bees make their products?

Do they keep bees and take out a dollop of wax and honey once in a while? Isn鈥檛 Burt鈥檚 Bees natural? How do Burt's Bees make their products?
No they are not cruel to bees, and yes, they are natural.

They try their best to be as natural as possible and they are 100% percent cruelty free. They only use synthetics to make the product stable and maintain its integrity.

And from their FAQ:

I read that the way beeswax is harvested is not cruelty-free. How does Burt's Bees cultivate their beeswax?

Be assured, our beeswax harvesting processes are cruelty-free. Our beeswax cultivating process protects the bees' normal production cycle. The bees first produce a wax honeycomb where they can store their honey. The honeycomb then is capped off and the bees move on to build another big hive. When that's full, the bees are moved to a new location to start all over again, ensuring the normal cycle of nature. The bees know how to do their job, so we leave them alone and mind our own beeswax until it's time to harvest.
